Canoeing the River Allier - Gold Level

This fantastic four day canoe trip down the River Allier in the South of France is available to those who have done canoeing at Silver Level.

Starting in Prades, around 100 miles from Lyon, we paddle our way past scenic valleys and traditional French towns, encountering exciting Grade 2 rapids to keep us entertained.

Leading on from the training received at Silver Level, the training for this expedition includes:

  • A half day refresher session on the Union Canal in Edinburgh.
  • 2 one day trips on Grade 2 rivers (eg. the Tay) looking at improving our paddling and rescue skills in more challenging water.
  • 3 day practice expedition (eg. the River Spey)
  • 8 day France expedition, 4 of which are paddling on the River Allier.
